Q&A: taking better pictures?

Question by music is power: taking better pictures?
ok well i am taking pictures of ME for my profile
and all of them look soooooo stupid
like they dont even look like me
im just either holding the camera up at arms length
or doing them in a miror

i have canon powershot S500
i dont know how to do the timer thing
but even if i did i wouldnt know how to take a picture that looks good

i’ve tried all the facial expressions i know of and all of them dont look like me

dont say anything like ” well mabee you should look better” cause that doesnt help

is there any face things i can do or anything????
i just need simple tips of taking pictures of yourselve.

just act normal. and maybe have another perosn take some picture sof you and you pick the best one.

  1. I always think putting on a song you like helps to get in a good mood and feel confident for any photoshoot. As a photographer, I get nervous when I’m on the other side of the camera, but this usually loosens me up. The timer is the buttton that looks like a clock with a dot at the top. I reccomend using that if possible. For your face, try looking in the camera as if there is someone in there looking at you and say “Hey its me” or something with a smile. keep your chin up, keep trying.

  2. Stand in front of a tree, let someone else take the picture, wear a nice clothes, make sure it is sunny but do not have the sun in the photo.

  3. the complex answer is – use lighting

    the easy answer is – get a good photographer to photograph you
