I need help, i cant decided what to buy either a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX100V 16.2 MP or a Canon Powershot SX40 HS.
What are the differences b/w these two despite the megapixels? They both seem pretty good.
So whats better?

“b/w” means black & white, but I guess you mean “between”, right?

I am a Canon girl – I don’t believe Sony is all that incredibly good with cameras.
35x zoom is obviously better than 30x zoom, although that alone wouldn’t sway me.

The swivel screen on the Canon is worth its weight in gold – you would come to LOVE it. However, it sounds like the Canon doesn’t have manual modes, which means I, personally, would not want it.

Go to a store and have a good play with both of them…. it might help you to decide which one feels better to YOU.

I decided to not spend the money for another camera and just use my PowerShot.

I know people have made movies on a Flip camera and the iPhone 4, but has anyone made a film with the Powershot Elph 100HS or 300HS?

I think it’ll be pretty cool if I made a film with it and be one of the few who did make a movie before a lot of people did and published their movie.

Only if you play them side by side on HD TVs…and then it is difficult to see the difference unless you are shooting video of really detailed objects.

Your software, such as Picasa, usually asks if you want to delete the photographs from the memory card when they are uploaded or whether you want to keep them. If your software doesn’t do that, I suggest you download Picasa. It is free.

I have the Canon Power Shot A80. By standard, it only has an optical zoom of 3. I am looking to find out if you can buy lenses to improve that?

What about a macro lens too shoot up close?

Nope, looks there’s no way to attach a lens to that type of camera. I made the same mistake myself, once years ago–I didn’t look to see if there was a way to attach lenses or not.

A good site to look at would be ritzcamera.com — that’s how I find info for the camera I have now. :-)

I currently have a Cannon PowerShot S 500 Digital Elph, and it takes nice photos, but I can’t seem to get clear face shots to show off make-up. I also don’t want to spend a fortune on a new one. Are there any digital cameras out there that are capable of taking clear face shots that an average person could afford? Feel free to list even the more expensive models, just in case. Just keep in mind I’m on a budget.
